  1. Hi Steve,
My name is Darren and 14 years ago I had non Hodgkin’s lymphoma, while I didn’t need to have any blood transfusions it did stop me giving blood. I have since that time tried to encourage people to give blood with the question “I can’t give blood because I had cancer, what’s your excuse?” and hopefully it has made people think about donating. I did write to the blood donation authority to ask if a hard hitting advert on the TV about my story and that question. Initially they were interested but I’m afraid it went no further but having just seen your story on Midlands today I am going to try them again, maybe the softly softly approach needs a rethink?
With the kindest regards and admiration,
    Darren Lloyd.
